About the project's editorial structure
The project's editorial structure is very simple at this point. The
vast majority of editing, writing and illustration for In the
Wake is currently done by Aric McBay. That's who will answer
your emails. When text on the website or in an Excerpt Booklet says
"I", that means Aric unless otherwise noted.
However, contributions of relevant content, including writing and
illustrations, are welcome from anyone. A current list of things that
need doing for the project is posted at how
to contribute. A number of people help or have helped by proofreading
and offering comments on content, and they are acknowledged in Excerpt
Booklet #1.
Want to reuse an article or how-to elsewhere?
I'm happy to have people use pieces from this project on their own
not-for-profit projects with the following conditions:
On the Internet:
- If you want to use an article on your site, please use a link
to this site along with a content excerpt on your site, rather than
placing the entire text of a piece on your website. This is because
the pages here are updated periodically, and I don't want "obselete"
copies floating around on the web, especially if an error ever needs
to be fixed. It's also because I'm curious about how many people
are reading it.
- Please include the name of the author of the piece (Aric McBay
unless otherwise noted), as well as a link to www.inthewake.org.
On paper:
- You can not charge anyone for a copy of any information from this
site, except for reasonable photocopying or printing costs.
- Please include the name of the author of the piece, as well as
the address of the website, www.inthewake.org. Including a brief
summary of the In the Wake project along with the text would also
be appreciated.
- I'd love to have a copy of any paper project you include it in.
Please email for a postal address.
If you'd like to use a piece in a for-profit project or something
people will be charged for, please email me at editorial at inthewake
dot org and we can chat.
At least several American universities are using some of these
writings as course material. I'd appreciate hearing about your
use of it in any other educational context.
